Evaluation: Question 6

Technology I have used:

I-mac PC
I have used the I-Mac PC to produce all of my Media coursework. This PC has got all of the software that I have needed to make my media magazine.

SLR camera
I used this camera to take the photographs for my music magazine, and also other work that I have done leading up to the music magazine; for example college magazine and audience research. Using the SLR camera was a good choice because the images where of a high resolution.

Photoshop
I have used Photoshop to create the majority of my magazine. This software aloud me to add effects and create realistic look for my magazine. I used a variety of different effects especially working with the brightness and contract on images to help create a more impressive image.

Blogger
I have used blogger to help with the tracking of my progress from the start of the year. This has been a really good site to be able to upload images of my work, creating my own portfolio. I have found this really useful because not only has it aloud me to keep on track with my work , it has also a great 'follow' tool where other people in my class can follow my progress and give me feedback and advice.

Prezi
I have used Prezi a number of times too present information about my music magazine. This is a more creative way in presenting information, as you can create paths as to which way you want the eyes of the viewer to go.

Flickr
Flicker has been used during my evaluation. I uploaded pictures to Flickr and then underneath two of them I have answered questions based on how my magazine would be distributed and which company my magazine would go with.

Slideshare
I have used slide share to help with the uploading of Power-point presentations. This software is on the internet and after you have created an account you can then you can upload the power-point so that when it goes onto the blogger you can view the Power-point straight on there.

Evaluation: Question 4

Above is a drawing of who the audience of my media product would be . How ever now I am going to look at why they would buy my magazine.

They would buy my magazine becuase of the following:
  • My magazine genre is Pop which the younger girls are mostly into
  • There are articles on the latest celebrity gossip which they love to read about,
  • Competitions are a big thing within my magazine, this will really appeal to the audience,
  • The magazine is reasonably priced, as it can't be too much money as its a weekly magazine and also the buyers of the magzine can't afford a great deal with not having jobs,
  • There is fashion advise and examples of great items that are available on the shops inwhich they shop , for example New Look,
  • There is also the chance for them to purchase CD's for vouchers off downloads , in the issue I have just created there is a download voucher for Katie's new album.

Evaluation: Question 2

Similarities
  • The posture of the two models is very similar. They are both with their head on a slight side angle, with their face looking down the lens.
  • Both of these images have a shadow around their faces. This means that the lighting is quite similar within these photographs as the images are bright which creates a great pop feel about them.
  • The shot type between my image and the real magazine is that they are both medium close-ups. This is really good for a pop magazine as they let enough of the clothing to be seen, as well as the models faces being the main focal point.
  • The expressions do have some similarity, as they are both looking straight down the lens so it creates the feel that they are looking straight at the reader, giving a more approachable feel to the magazine.
  • There is a similarity with the clothing in which they are wearing. Although they are of a different gender the style of clothing is very fashionable for example the clean cut shirt and then on my image the straight-line dress.
  • The angle of the shots are also the same as the angle is at eye level .
Differences
  • A difference between the images has to be the expression, although they are both looking straight down the camera the real magazine has more of a subtle smile where as the image in which I constructed has a full teeth smile.
  • Another difference would be the slight change in posture as the image I constructed has a more turn on the shoulder than the male model.
  • The obvious difference would have to be the gender difference. With this difference it can help to explain why there are slight differences between the two as the image I constructed is more feminine.

Research and Planning: Update of magazine production

Over the past couple of weeks I have been working hard on all three parts of my music magazine. I have been making improvements to all three to try and create a better look and feel for the 'Pop' genre that I have chosen to base my magazine on. I have been making these slight improvements because when looking at my magazine in conjunction with a real pop magazine I found that my magazine wasn't as packed as the real pop magazine, so I had t add more boxes of information and pictures, for example ; on the front cover there is now a box in the bottom right with fashion accessories on it.

Over all , the past couple of weeks have been very productive as I now feel like my magazine is more of the Pop genre that I set out to create.

Now, all that is left to do is to evaluate my magazine, which I will be doing very soon.
