Evaluation: Question 2

Similarities
  • The posture of the two models is very similar. They are both with their head on a slight side angle, with their face looking down the lens.
  • Both of these images have a shadow around their faces. This means that the lighting is quite similar within these photographs as the images are bright which creates a great pop feel about them.
  • The shot type between my image and the real magazine is that they are both medium close-ups. This is really good for a pop magazine as they let enough of the clothing to be seen, as well as the models faces being the main focal point.
  • The expressions do have some similarity, as they are both looking straight down the lens so it creates the feel that they are looking straight at the reader, giving a more approachable feel to the magazine.
  • There is a similarity with the clothing in which they are wearing. Although they are of a different gender the style of clothing is very fashionable for example the clean cut shirt and then on my image the straight-line dress.
  • The angle of the shots are also the same as the angle is at eye level .
Differences
  • A difference between the images has to be the expression, although they are both looking straight down the camera the real magazine has more of a subtle smile where as the image in which I constructed has a full teeth smile.
  • Another difference would be the slight change in posture as the image I constructed has a more turn on the shoulder than the male model.
  • The obvious difference would have to be the gender difference. With this difference it can help to explain why there are slight differences between the two as the image I constructed is more feminine.
