Evaluation: Question7
College/Music magazine
Front covers
These are the two front covers the first one being my final music magazine and the second one being the college magazine that I produced at the start of the year.
Front covers
These are the two front covers the first one being my final music magazine and the second one being the college magazine that I produced at the start of the year.
- When looking at the two front covers there is a distinctive difference in terms of technology used. With the college magazine it was the first time I had ever used Photoshop so the amount of technology used was limited. However the front cover of my music magazine there was a lot more technology used. This can be seen by the amount of different shapes, angles and colours of the items placed on the front cover.
- The photography between the two magazines is considerably different. The taking of the college magazine image there was no real stance and shot type in mind. The image has just been placed in the center of the page which does create a good size focus point but it had very little adjustment in terms of brightness and contrast. On the other hand the music magazine has more than one image , and the main image was thought out in terms of position and lighting to bring out the best out of the image.
- There has been improvement between the layout of the magazines. the college magazine has a very basic straight forward layout, with everything being in a horizontal structure. However the music magazine layout is very fitting with the genre style of the magazine, as its busy and brightly coloured.
- The technology used between the two has developed. On the music magazine with my skills that have developed, I was able to add a white stroke line around my images to make then stand out more and look more defined. The music magazine has less blank space which is great for the target audience I had in mind.
- The photography between the two pages is much more thought out. The college magazine was very quick random photos which had no real intention for the magazine before hand. Where as with my final music magazine contents page the images were directed to look a certain way so that they would fit better in my magazine.
- Looking at the layout for my college magazine there is a lot of blank space which doesn't really attract the student audience which it has been aimed for. Where as my music magazine is more full and compact which makes it more interesting to look at and fits with the Pop genre.

Evaluation: Question 6
Technology I have used:
I-mac PC
I have used the I-Mac PC to produce all of my Media coursework. This PC has got all of the software that I have needed to make my media magazine.
SLR camera
I used this camera to take the photographs for my music magazine, and also other work that I have done leading up to the music magazine; for example college magazine and audience research. Using the SLR camera was a good choice because the images where of a high resolution.
Photoshop
I have used Photoshop to create the majority of my magazine. This software aloud me to add effects and create realistic look for my magazine. I used a variety of different effects especially working with the brightness and contract on images to help create a more impressive image.
Blogger
I have used blogger to help with the tracking of my progress from the start of the year. This has been a really good site to be able to upload images of my work, creating my own portfolio. I have found this really useful because not only has it aloud me to keep on track with my work , it has also a great 'follow' tool where other people in my class can follow my progress and give me feedback and advice.
Prezi
I have used Prezi a number of times too present information about my music magazine. This is a more creative way in presenting information, as you can create paths as to which way you want the eyes of the viewer to go.
Flickr
Flicker has been used during my evaluation. I uploaded pictures to Flickr and then underneath two of them I have answered questions based on how my magazine would be distributed and which company my magazine would go with.
Slideshare
I have used slide share to help with the uploading of Power-point presentations. This software is on the internet and after you have created an account you can then you can upload the power-point so that when it goes onto the blogger you can view the Power-point straight on there.

Evaluation: Question 4
Above is a drawing of who the audience of my media product would be . How ever now I am going to look at why they would buy my magazine.
They would buy my magazine becuase of the following:
- My magazine genre is Pop which the younger girls are mostly into
- There are articles on the latest celebrity gossip which they love to read about,
- Competitions are a big thing within my magazine, this will really appeal to the audience,
- The magazine is reasonably priced, as it can't be too much money as its a weekly magazine and also the buyers of the magzine can't afford a great deal with not having jobs,
- There is fashion advise and examples of great items that are available on the shops inwhich they shop , for example New Look,
- There is also the chance for them to purchase CD's for vouchers off downloads , in the issue I have just created there is a download voucher for Katie's new album.

Evaluation: Question 2

Similarities
- The posture of the two models is very similar. They are both with their head on a slight side angle, with their face looking down the lens.
- Both of these images have a shadow around their faces. This means that the lighting is quite similar within these photographs as the images are bright which creates a great pop feel about them.
- The shot type between my image and the real magazine is that they are both medium close-ups. This is really good for a pop magazine as they let enough of the clothing to be seen, as well as the models faces being the main focal point.
- The expressions do have some similarity, as they are both looking straight down the lens so it creates the feel that they are looking straight at the reader, giving a more approachable feel to the magazine.
- There is a similarity with the clothing in which they are wearing. Although they are of a different gender the style of clothing is very fashionable for example the clean cut shirt and then on my image the straight-line dress.
- The angle of the shots are also the same as the angle is at eye level .
- A difference between the images has to be the expression, although they are both looking straight down the camera the real magazine has more of a subtle smile where as the image in which I constructed has a full teeth smile.
- Another difference would be the slight change in posture as the image I constructed has a more turn on the shoulder than the male model.
- The obvious difference would have to be the gender difference. With this difference it can help to explain why there are slight differences between the two as the image I constructed is more feminine.

Research and Planning: Update of magazine production
Over the past couple of weeks I have been working hard on all three parts of my music magazine. I have been making improvements to all three to try and create a better look and feel for the 'Pop' genre that I have chosen to base my magazine on. I have been making these slight improvements because when looking at my magazine in conjunction with a real pop magazine I found that my magazine wasn't as packed as the real pop magazine, so I had t add more boxes of information and pictures, for example ; on the front cover there is now a box in the bottom right with fashion accessories on it.
Over all , the past couple of weeks have been very productive as I now feel like my magazine is more of the Pop genre that I set out to create.
Now, all that is left to do is to evaluate my magazine, which I will be doing very soon.

Research and Planning: Magazine cover
Today I have been making changes to my front cover to try and fill in the spaces and make it more compact as that is how pop magazines tend to be. I am now happy with my front cover and then hopefully over the next few days I will be making changes to my contents page.

Research and Planning: Progress of today
Today I have been concentrating on the double page spread as I found there was a lot of white space and with the examiner picking up in this issue I have re-placed the picture onto the page with making the adjustments as before and also making the background black and white so the image really stands out with the pink dress.
I just need to add an image onto the front cover instead of the splash shape and also fill my contents page up with more images and shapes.

Research and Planning: To do list 08/02/11
Today I am going to try and:
- work on my contents page,
- continue with creating less white space on the double page spread

Research and Planning: Contents Page update
Above is an update of my contents page. I have taken into account the feedback that I have been given and chose to change the background colour to white, but still keeping the strip of colour pink to keep the consistency with the front page. it isn't complete as yet as I am still deciding on whether I am happy with the placing of the images.

Research and Planning: Double Page Spread Update
Above is the double page spread for my music magazine. I am really quite happy with how the double page looks as I like how the colour of the dress and the colour of the text links each other togther and how the guide lines really make a differnce to the shaping of the text. With more time I would like to maybe think about the blank space around the image as im not quite sure yet as to if I should leave or maybe add something else. but overall I am happy with the double page spread and the image in which I have used.
Research and Planning: Front cover update
Above is the front cover for my music magazine. I feel that there is not much left that I would like to do to the font cover , however with more time I would like to maybe move the copy up a bit and add more pictures to the bottom left of the page to not only fill the space but through my research I have found that pop magazines do tend to have more than one image on the front cover.
Research and Planning: contents page update
Above is the contents page for my pop magazine so far. It isnt complete as such as I would like to add more photos in the blank space and add some accessories like a bracelet or a necklace next to the dress, to give a full outfit image. Also I am unsure as to whether the image at the top ( the yellow mini) should say as it is the same person that is on my front cover and double page spread, however the reason why I have put it on the contents page is becuase it is next to the main feature heading so that it gives the reader an insite into who the article is about.

Research and Planning: Double Page Spread Update
I have made progresses with my double page spread. I have finished writing the copy on the page, this was made easier by adding guide lines onto the page so that the text would then be in straight even columns.
